A video of Uganda’s Second Deputy Prime Minister, Moses Ali, actively campaigning for the January 2026 elections has gone viral online.

In the video, the 86-year-old politician is seen dancing while seated, surrounded by officials and uniformed personnel. As the music plays, he appears to struggle to stand up but eventually manages to get on his feet and perform a few dance moves.

The footage has since trended across platforms like TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter), sparking mixed reactions online. Many viewers are questioning why some African leaders remain unwilling to retire, even at such an advanced age.

Meanwhile, exiled writer and human rights lawyer Kakwenza Rukirabashaija has raised objections over Gen. Moses Ali’s candidacy. He warned that he will file a public interest petition at the High Court if the Electoral Commission proceeds to nominate the aging politician for the Adjumani West parliamentary seat in the upcoming 2026 general elections.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with The Nile Post, Kakwenza expressed serious concern about Gen. Ali’s health, citing signs of cognitive decline and mental disorientation. He argues that the 86-year-old is no longer capable of performing the constitutional responsibilities required of a Member of Parliament.
