Lafia, Nasarawa State, When the call to serve Nigeria came in 2019, Abubakar Adamu Mohammed wore the uniform of the Inspector General of Police with quiet dignity. He secured a nation.

Today, as he seeks the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket for Nasarawa State ahead of the 2027 general elections, he brings that same calm authority, tested experience, and unshakeable integrity to the call to serve his home state.

For those who know him, the decision is no surprise. This is a humble gentleman, a quintessential excellent man whose 35 years in the Nigeria Police Force were defined not by noise, but by results. From the  humble career begining in the nigerian police to the enviable height of the Inspector General of Police, his career was built on one principle: “Leadership is trust held in public custody”

TRIED AND TRUSTED ON THE NATIONAL STAGE:

As the 20th Indigenous Inspector General of Police, IGP Adamu Mohammed (Rtd) navigated Nigeria through complex security challenges with strategy and restraint. He launched “Operation Puff Adder” decentralized intelligence-led policing, and pushed for the Police Trust Fund to improve welfare and equipment.

Under his watch, the Force recorded major breakthroughs against banditry and kidnapping while restoring public confidence through community policing.

“He listens more than he speaks, and when he acts, it is decisive,” says a retired DIG who served with him. “Nasarawa needs that temperament now.”

WHY APC SHOULD CONSIDER HIM FOR THE TICKET:

The APC prides itself on rewarding competence, loyalty, and capacity to win. IGP Adamu Mohammed (Rtd) brings all three:

1. National Stature: He is one of Nasarawa’s most accomplished sons, with name recognition from Keffi to Abuja and beyond.

2. Clean Record: In 35 years of public service, not a single scandal or query. Tried and trusted is not a slogan, it is his résumé.

3. Bridge Builder: A devout Muslim from Keffi, he is equally at home in Akwanga, Doma, or Wamba. Christians and Muslims, farmers and herders, youth and elders see in him a father figure who does not weaponize religion or ethnicity.

The Vision: Security. Unity. Prosperity.
Nasarawa in 2027 needs a governor who understands that development dies where security fails. His Nasarawa “Peace &

Prosperity Agenda” rests on three pillars:

1. Secure Nasarawa First: Deploy his national security architecture to end communal clashes, protect farmlands, and make the state safe for investors.

2. One State, One People: Establish a Nasarawa Unity & Reconciliation Commission to heal old wounds. “Our diversity is our strength, not our weakness,” he insists

3. Jobs Through Agriculture & Solid Minerals: Leverage Nasarawa’s farming belt and mining potential to create 100,000 youth jobs in 4 years through farm clusters, processing hubs, and mining cooperatives.

The Man Beyond the Uniform:
Ask him about power and he smiles. “I am a son of the soil. I sweep my own compound.” That humility is legendary.

As IGP, he returned calls from constables. In Keffi, he still attends Friday prayers in the same neighborhood mosque he used as a young ASP.

Yet make no mistake, he is a reformer. He believes government must work for the poorest trader in Lafia market as efficiently as it does for the elite in Abuja.

A Call to Nasarawa People:

From keeping Nigeria safe to building Nasarawa’s future. The record is clear. The choice is ours.
IGP Abubakar Adamu Mohammed (Rtd), Tried. Trusted. Ready.

The 2027 election will not be won by religion or tribe. It will be won by competence. It will be won by a man who has already secured a nation and now asks for the chance to secure a state.

To APC delegates: here is a candidate you can present to every ward, every faith, every ethnic group with pride.

To the people of Nasarawa State Again: Here is a Governor who will not see you as Muslim or Christian, Mada or Eggon, Alago or Gwandara, but simply as “Nasarawa
