President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been conferred with the prestigious title of Knight Commander of the Order of Saint Lucia, the highest honour bestowed by the Caribbean nation.
The special investiture took place during a state event in recognition of Tinubu’s contributions to strengthening diplomatic ties and promoting mutual cooperation between Nigeria and Saint Lucia.
The award marks a significant moment in the President’s international engagements, positioning him as a symbol of continental leadership beyond Africa.
The tittle, rarely awarded to foreign leaders, was presented amid cheers and fanfare.
SIXT-MEDIA LANE reports that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday had earlier announced the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nigeria and Saint Lucia, describing the move as a symbolic bridge aimed at fostering closer ties between both nations.
The announcement was made during a special joint session of the Senate and House of Assembly of Saint Lucia at the William Jefferson Clinton Ballroom, Sandals Grande, Gros Islet.
President Tinubu proposed the creation of a Joint Commission or Political Consultation Agreement to serve as a structured platform for cooperation between Nigeria and the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS).
