TRIBUTE TO CHIEF ERIC EGWUIBE: A BEACON OF EXEMPLARY LEADERSHIP
A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.” – John C. Maxwell.
The above time honored postulation by the great philosopher John C Maxwell apltly captures the story of Chief Eric Achi Egwuibe-The immediate past Chairman of Obingwa LGA of Abia state.
In a time when true leadership often feels like a rare gift, Chief Eric Egwuibe has emerged as a shining example of what dedicated, people-centered governance should be.
As the immediate past Local Government Chairman of Obingwa LGA, Chief Egwuibe’s tenure was nothing short of transformational. In just one year, he delivered a harvest of projects, programs, and policies that touched every facet of life in Obingwa. His vision was clear: to build, to uplift, to serve, and he pursued that vision with passion, integrity, and remarkable efficiency.
His outstanding performance did not go unnoticed. From the heart of the nation, the Federal Government of Nigeria, moved by his sterling achievements, honored him in May 2024 with the prestigious Good Governance Award – a rare feat for a Local Government Chairman, and a loud confirmation that excellence needs no megaphone; it announces itself.
The love and admiration of his own people crowned his efforts even more beautifully. In December, the entire council of traditional rulers of Obingwa LGA conferred on him the distinguished chieftaincy title of Ochikaribe-the best in governance ever. In our culture, such a title is not given lightly; it is earned through uncommon devotion and visible transformation.

Across Abia State, Chief Egwuibe’s name is etched in gold. The National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), recognizing his masterful prudence in resource management and time-sensitive delivery in service awarded him a Special Recognition Award. In a space where many leaders talk, he simply delivered.
Chief Eric Egwuibe has redefined what is possible in local governance. His leadership was anchored on prudence, foresight, and deep love for his people. His legacy is written not just in awards and titles, but in the lives he touched, the communities he uplifted, and the hopes he restored.
Today, we celebrate a leader whose achievements continue to inspire, whose example continues to challenge others to rise higher, and whose journey reminds us that good leadership is not a myth, it lives among us.
