Contrary View: To me, Life Is Not A Vanity But A Period to do one’s work on earth, within it’s expiry Date – Job Dangana ~ Sixt-Media Lane Consult

Is Human Life on Earth really a Vanity?

Life has been described by many people, right from the ancients, starting with King Solomon till today to be vain or a vanity. However, I hold a contrary view. To me, life is not a vanity but a period to do one’s work on earth, within it’s expiry, because life potency is within its expiry date. The moment life expires and it was not utilised within its period, it becomes empty like expired drugs and foods not used when they are good. But drugs and food used in their good state cannot be said to be wasted or useless.

What many people fail to realise is that, nothing on earth is permanent, except perhaps objects like stones, sand, etc.

Am I making sense to anyone? If no, then consider the following issues;

  1. Clothes do not last forever but the period they are in use, they are valued and cherished by their wearers and the general public.
  2. Chairs/furniture do not last the life span of their owners, and some people change their furniture and other domestic properties several times in their lifetime; but within the period they are in use, they serve their purpose and are cherished by their owners and those who see or use them.
  3. Even cars are not usually used for the full lifespan of their owners. Old cars get dropped and new ones acquired. Does that make the cars useless for the period they were of value?
  4. All domestic appliances such as fridge, cookers, blenders, cooking pots, etc last only few years but within the period of their use, they are valued and cherished by their owners and others that benefit from their use.

The above scenario is what human beings are or made to be. They were not expected to live forever but for a period of time on earth. But within this period of their lifetime, they are supposed to do work and be useful to their owner(God) and to other people who benefits from their existence and services. If anyone makes himself useful during the time he lives, then he/she is not living a vain life and life is not a vanity to him.

Life only becomes a vanity for those that fail to use their lives in good ways that benefits other people. Just like our properties are used and replaced by us, that’s how our lives are on earth. God use us if we agree to positively touched other lives and when our expiry date comes, we die. Does our death make the number of years lived on earth useless or a vanity? No, it does not. It is only those that failed to make their lives useful like drugs and foods not used until they expire and thrown away that can be properly said to have lived a wasted life.

Therefore, life is sweet, good to live and memorable, and not a vanity, for those who find good purpose for their lives within its useful period or span. Vain life is usually lived by those that failed to do their work within the time they’re on earth.

In all these considerations, death should not be dreaded, but what we should fear most is if our live is not positively productive during our lifespan on earth. That’s only when life can be described as vanity.

God himself that created man did not describe life on earth to be a vanity. It’s only human beings that deviated from the purpose of life, led by King Solomon that described life as vanity. God, the creator gave us a good mandate on earth and he commanded us to discharge the mandate during our time. He said we should dominate and replenish the earth. A man who has lived a good life cannot see life to be vain or a vanity.

What are your thoughts on this?As usual, I am yours faithfully,
.
