Katsina State stands at a crossroad.
The question before us in 2027 is simple: Who has already proven that they can put the people first? Who has turned promises into classrooms, scholarships, and hope? Who has addressed insecurity at the grassroot?
The answer is standing before us. His name is Senator Garba Yakubu Lado Danmarke
A SON OF THE SOIL, TESTED AND TRUSTED
Born in Danmarke village, Kankara LGA, Senator Lado’s story is the Katsina story. Humble beginnings. Hard work. Service.
He started as Supervisory Councilor for Finance in Kankara LGA 1991-1993. He became LGA Chairman 1999-2003. The people saw him, and they sent him to Abuja.
From 2003-2007, he served in the House of Representatives. From 2007-2011, he represented us with dignity in the Nigerian Senate for Katsina South Senatorial District under the PDP.
For years, he has carried our flag as PDP’s governorship candidate, not for title, but because he refuses to abandon his people.
A trained accountant with a National Diploma and Advanced Diploma from Kaduna State Polytechnic, he understands numbers. But more importantly, he understands people.
HIS GREATEST LEGACY: OVER 3,000 KATSINA CHILDREN IN Bayero University alone.
Politicians talk. Senator Lado acts with visible results. He is a politician with few words.
Through the Senator Yakubu Lado Danmarke Education Foundation, he has sponsored over 3,000 indigenes of Katsina State to study at Bayero University Kano for various undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
The records speak for themselves: The statistics are only for Bayero University.
In 2022/2023: Lado sponsored 371 Undergraduate + 21 Postgraduate
2023/2024: 679 Undergraduate + 41 Postgraduate.
2024/2025: 573 Undergraduate + 123 Postgraduate.
2025/2026: he sponsored over 1,000 students
That is not a one-time donation. That is a movement. That is a father sending thousands of children to school.
At a recent award ceremony in BUK, postgraduate students of Katsina origin honored him.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Haruna Musa described it as “one of the highest individual sponsorships in this university.”
Representing the VC, Prof. Maryam Mansur Yola told him: “Your massive philanthropic intervention is really outstanding, and the students will never forget you.”
That is the Lado way. Silent work. Loud results.
A LEADER WHO VISITS, WHO LISTENS, WHO BUILDS
When Senator Lado came to BUK, he did not just collect awards. He paid a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor. He praised the “silent transformation” in the university and urged: _“In view of the key roles of education to national growth and development, I urge you to remain focused and continue to transform the university to greater heights.”
He also used the moment to speak for parents. He appealed to the Katsina State Government to review student allowances so that the burden on families can be eased in this challenging economy.
With him were leaders who believe in his vision: his running mate Amb. Yakubu Rumah, his wife Hajiya Zainab Sani Abacha Yakubu, Dan Lawan Katsina Alh Hamisu Gambo, and PDP State Chairman Alh. Nura Amadi Kurfi, among several others. A team that is ready to work for the interest of Katsina State.
WHY 2027 MUST BE LADO
Katsina needs more than politics. Katsina needs governance with a human face. The state needs a visionary, focused, and purposeful leader.
Imagine a governor who has already educated 3,000 of your children without being in Government House.
Imagine a governor who knows the pain of parents because he started as a councilor in Kankara.
Imagine a governor who will use the power of the state to expand scholarships, fix schools, create jobs, fight poverty, and insecurity at the grassroots.
