Prince Dr. Nicholas Ukachukwu, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming 2025 Anambra governorship election, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic death of Somtochukwu “Sommie” Maduagwu, a rising anchor with Arise News Television, who was killed during a robbery attack at her residence in Abuja on Monday, September 29, 2025.
In a heartfelt condolence message released on Tuesday, Ukachukwu described Somtoo’s passing as “a devastating blow, not only to her family and colleagues at Arise News, but to the entire Nigerian media industry, which has lost a brilliant and promising voice.” He praised the late journalist’s courage, professionalism, and ability to illuminate national conversations with clarity and depth.
Ukachukwu, urged security agencies to ensure the perpetrators of the crime are swiftly apprehended and brought to justice. He prayed for comfort for Somtoo’s family and called for greater national resolve to safeguard citizens, stressing that the rising spate of violent crime poses a grave challenge to Nigeria’s collective peace and security.
