Gentlemen Of The Press, Countrymen and Women…
Over the past two months, precisely the 26th Day of August, 2026, we undertook the patriotic task of challenging the Political Class to issues based campaign, we launched a Weekly Series captioned NOW THAT THE CAMPAIGN IS HERE. And thanks to the media it went pretty viral.
In that Series, we promised to interrogate the Manifestos, the Programmatic and the Achievable Timelines attached to the Promises made by the candidates seeking the High Office of President come 2027.
Gentlemen of The Press, two months after, and exactly 79 days to the Saturday, 16 January 2027 Presidential Elections, we have come to fulfill that honourable duty which we undertook on behalf of the masses of our dear Country.
We today PRESENT to the media the Presidential Candidate, and the Political Party with unarguably the most elaborate and empirical Manifesto. We present to Nigerians the product of an indepth patriotic research. And we present to Nigerians a departure from barefaced mere promises to an era of concrete commitment to fixing our Dear Country, Nigeria.
Some have asked, why is the COUNTRYFIRST MOVEMENT and the Allied Pro-democracy Organizations here gathered so concerned about the Manifesto of the Candidates? Some have also wondered, is the ‘credibility’ of the candidate not more important than the mere words of a Manifesto?
To this curiosity and to posterity we owe this very important response. Every so often you hear the Declaration of Election results in civilised and progressive climes, you read words like ‘The Far Left Party Is Leading…’, ‘…The Conservatives Are Set To Return To Power’, ‘Have The People Rejected The Democrats As The Republican Party Coasts To Victory’, ‘…Labour Returns After Decades Of Conservative Rule’, and many more. What it highlights is the sacred importance of an ideological trust often presented as the Party’s Vision from which the Candidate draws his Manifesto. It defines the vision and the mission of the Party and the Candidate.
No progressive polity thrives on mere promises and words. Greatness is not predicated on the words of a good man, nor is good leadership based on promises, it is the sum of a researched commitment to solving the problems of a nation and her citizenry. Every Prepared Leader must therefore present to the Electorate a Clearheaded and forthright Manifesto with achievable programmatic and Timelines.
The very few standout leaders in our nation’s history were men who came across with clearheaded and achievable manifestos. Obafemi Awolowo, Nnamdi Azikiwe, Mallam Aminu Kano, and MKO Abiola are yet remembered for their Vision, Mission and their Manifestos. Could the failure of leadership in this clime be hinged on the absence of political parties with profound ideology, and on the thin value some attach to well researched manifestos? Perhaps.
Could Buhari and the others before and after him have done better if they had well researched manifestos, and if their political parties had clear ideological pinning? Why are Presidential Candidates and Political Parties constituting and inaugurating their Presidential Campaign Councils without first LAUNCHING the Manifesto of the Party and the Candidate? Must we continue this ‘trajectory of doom’ and this ‘circle of mediocrity and rudderless-ness’? What clearcut messages would the inaugurated Campaign Councils preach?
Countrymen and Women, Gentlemen of the Press, in furtherance of the onerous task of redefining our politics and reshaping our approach to leadership and governance, we called out for the Manifestos and the workable programmatics of the Candidates and their Parties. We received only ONE full and comprehensive Manifesto with Workable Programmatic and Timelines. The other candidates sent in briefs comprising graphic designs of promises and programs without details and timelines. And sadly most of the Political Parties apparently are like Special Purpose Vehicles SPVs for Power Contestation, NEVER presenting programs and policies BUT Candidates… What nation succeeds this way? The APC blames the PDP for having failed the People and vice versa, and so does the opposition… Must we not commit to a surgical overhaul of our politics and weed out all mediocre and unprepared candidates?
We MUST state without equivocation that this circle of leadership failure in Nigeria will continue save and except we elect candidates with clearcut manifestos, and Parties with clear ideological underpinnings NOT Candidates running for office with Special Purpose Vehicles SPVs as Political Parties.
Nigeria is not lacking in quality candidates and viable alternatives. Nigeria deserves more than the present shenanigans. Our Children and posterity crave a nation that works. Our Fathers and Mothers want a Leader they can trust, and a President they will be proud of.
Having extensively studied the MANIFESTO we received, and the brief graphics on the vision and the work-plan we got from as many as 10 other candidates in lieu of Manifesto (making it a total 11 candidates of the 18 Presidential Candidates published by INEC), we today present to Nigerians the Candidate with the BEST MANIFESTO. We present to Nigerians the Candidate with a Clear Blue Print and a Workable Programmatic for a New Nigeria. And this Candidate interestingly is running under one of the extremely few Parties with Clearcut ideology and Vision in Nigeria.
Gentlemen of the Press, we Present to you Prince Adewole Adebayo the Presidential Candidate of the Social Democratic Party SDP. Pleasantly the Social Democratic Party SDP was the Party of the Late Chief MKO Abiola who is celebrated today as the Hero of Democracy. And his campaign mantra in 1993 was FAREWELL TO POVERTY. Today Prince Adewole Adebayo is the Presidential Candidate of the Social Democratic Party SDP (The Party with the Horse As The Logo), and Prince Adewole Adebayo’s lead campaign mantra is FAREWELL TO POVERTY AND INSECURITY. It is not a coincidence or copycatting BUT the product of a Party with established ideology. May the SDP, the Party of the Hero of Democracy MKO Abiola bequeath to Nigeria a President in Prince Adewole Adebayo that SHALL make Real The Promises Of Democracy.
Countrymen and Women, Gentlemen of the Press… Prince Adewole Adebayo the Presidential Candidate of SDP is a Lawyer in Practice, he is a Businessman, he runs a Media outfit, he is a veteran of the progressive left and a relentless supporter of projects, programs and initiatives that advance Pro-democracy causes and the welfare of the people. He is young and vibrant, urbane and versatile, accomplished and approachable. And he is a very clearheaded progressive.
We here today endorse his candidacy for the high office of President, and urge Nigerians to look at his candidacy with enthusiasm and to work for his emergence as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria come 2027. We urge other Civil Society and Pro-democracy Organizations who are yet to join us to come along. The commitment of the COUNTRYFIRST MOVEMENT and Allied Pro-democracy Organizations to the Adewole Adebayo candidacy is the product of immense and intense patriotic interrogation of the candidates’ work-plan and programmatic. And in the service of Fatherland we have chosen the candidate with the best plan for the nation we love… Citizen Adewole Adebayo, the Presidential Candidate of the Social Democratic Party SDP is forthwith our Candidate for the High Office of President.
Understanding the urgency of now, and conscious of the fact that our nation needs URGENT RESET, we present to you the man with the RoadMAP to a Nigeria that works for all.
Countrymen and Women, our choice for President draws strength from Chapter 2 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria which provides the Fundamental Objectives and Directive Principles of State Policy. In his First 100 Days in office, he intends to establish The Presidential Delivery And Performance Office; Issue Chapter II compliance and results directives to Ministries, Departments And Agencies; complete security, power, food, health, education and infrastructure baseline audits; identify priority quick-win projects, launch procurement and expenditure transparency measures; convene Federal-State delivery compacts, and publish the first Presidential Delivery Dashboard. He intends to start well, and to GOVERN well, and that’s why he is the most competent choice for National Redemption.
In the First Year of His Watch, he intends to Stabilise And Mobilise. To concentrate on restoring security across the nation, stabilising essential services, accelerating domestic refining and energy logistics, expanding agricultural production, initiating power and transport, and enhancing all identifiable quick-wins, and mobilizing youth skills and employment programmes.
