A Nigerian Man Arrested In South Africa Over Possession Of Crystal Meth – SIXT-MEDIA LANE
A 44-year-old man, identified as Obi Anthony Okoshuku, appeared in court following his recent arrest for alleged possession of crystal meth. He remained in custody after the appearance and is expected back in the Mdutjana Magistrate’s Court on the 8th December 2025.
Okoshuku was arrested on Friday, 28 November 2025, at about 04h00 after police in Siyabuswa allegedly found drugs with an estimated street value of R110,000 in his vehicle.
According to the police, members were patrolling along the R568 road between Maphotla and Siyabuswa when they spotted a white Nissan NP200 bakkie with Gauteng registration plates. Officers gave chase after the driver allegedly failed to stop, and the vehicle was eventually cornered.
During the search, police recovered two containers filled with a white powder believed to be crystal meth, hidden inside bags. The vehicle was also seized as part of the investigation.
Captain Mpho Nonyane-Mpe confirmed the arrest and court developments, saying the case is being closely monitored.
“We appreciate the swift response of the members involved. Their vigilance led to the recovery of suspected drugs that would have made their way into our communities,” said Nonyane-Mpe.
The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General Zeph Mkhwanazi, also praised the officers. “The arrest of this suspect and recovery of the suspected drugs is a significant blow to illicit drug trafficking in our province,” he said.
