FIERCE REBUTTAL TO KELECHI NWAEZE’S POLITICAL GARBAGE – SIXT-MEDIA LANE
FIERCE REBUTTAL TO KELECHI NWAEZE’S POLITICAL GARBAGE
By Emeka Ubani (PhD, Columbia University)
Kelechi Nwaeze’s recent article, “Imo Owes Ohakim Nothing,” is not journalism, not commentary, and certainly not truth. It is an intellectual crime scene — dripping with malice, warped history, and the rancid stench of paid propaganda. It reads like the desperate wail of a political errand boy sent to assassinate the reputation of one of Imo’s most consequential leaders, His Excellency, Dr Ikedi Ohakim.
Let the record be clear: Dr Ikedi Ohakim has always been profoundly grateful to Imo people for their love, support, and loyalty throughout his political life — both in moments of triumph and in seasons of loss. He has never, ever, either privately or publicly, claimed that the governorship of Imo State is his birthright. The allegation of “entitlement” is a cowardly fabrication from a mind that cannot survive without inventing demons to attack.
For the avoidance of doubt: Dr Ohakim has never made the equity question about himself. Unlike the political parasites who have turned the so-called “Imo Charter of Iniquity” into their personal meal ticket to Douglas House, Dr Ohakim has consistently maintained that the future of Imo’s leadership must be decided by the people — freely, openly, and without backroom deals.
Now, to the author’s most shameless distortion: the 2011 election. Kelechi Nwaeze calls it “fair and square.” That is the language of an accomplice. That election was a textbook civilian coup — rigged with propaganda, drenched in lies, and poisoned by the connivance of certain political and religious actors in Imo East (Owerri Zone). These actors, driven by petty vendettas and unholy alliances, sabotaged a sitting governor through coordinated deceit. The evidence is not hearsay — some of them have publicly confessed in books, interviews, and even offered personal apologies, which Dr Ohakim, as a man of peace, graciously accepted. Rochas Okorocha himself knows the truth.
The idea that Ohakim’s loss was “the people’s verdict” is a stale piece of fiction peddled by those who benefitted from the robbery. The real verdict in 2011 was written by fraud, sealed by conspiracy, and delivered by a machinery of deceit. History remembers it, and so do the people of Imo.
The irony is that, unlike these loud-mouthed opportunists, Dr Ohakim has not declared interest in the 2027 governorship race. He has openly stated that Governor Hope Uzodinma should be given the space to consolidate on his achievements and finish stronger. That is statesmanship. That is discipline. That is what separates a leader from a desperate hustler.
But here’s the truth Kelechi and his sponsors cannot stand: ordinary citizens, home and abroad, have every constitutional right to advocate for the restoration of Dr Ohakim’s second term. Their voices cannot be silenced. Their wishes cannot be erased. And when the time comes, Dr Ohakim himself has the full constitutional right to contest. No failed hatchet job, no coward hiding behind a byline, and no lunatic masquerading as a commentator can stop him.
Kelechi’s juvenile attempt to paint Ohakim as “desperate” is laughable. Desperation is when you trade your pen, your dignity, and your conscience for crumbs from the table of political masters. Desperation is when you try to rewrite history in exchange for temporary favour. Ohakim’s record in office remains unmatched in reforms, infrastructural vision, and bold leadership. He does not need to “cling” to relevance — he is relevance.
Let us be blunt: Kelechi Nwaeze’s article is not just a hit piece — it is a pile of intellectual garbage that deserves the dustbin of public discourse. It is the work of a propagandist whose only skill is to vomit words without substance, banking on the hope that repetition can replace truth.
Imo owes Dr Ikedi Ohakim nothing, yes — and Dr Ohakim has never asked for anything except for the people of this state to be allowed to choose their future without lies, fraud, or manipulation. He is a man who has carried the weight of leadership before and will not be bullied out of his rights by half-baked mercenaries posing as public commentators.
Kelechi Nwaeze’s rant collapses under the weight of its own lies. Imo people are not fools. They know their history. They know who served them with vision and courage. And when the time comes, they will decide their future — not based on the bile of political errand boys, but on truth, performance, and the will of the people.
So let it be known: this attempt to smear Dr Ikedi Ohakim has failed before it began. The people are watching. The truth is standing. And no amount of manufactured outrage will bury it.
