*POLICE CONDUCT: IGP EGBETOKUN’S RAISES RED FLAG AGAINST PROFESSIONAL MISCONDUCT.*

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has taken a significant step towards restoring public trust in the Nigeria Police Force by cracking down on professional misconduct.

This move is a long-overdue action that will stimulate people’s confidence and trust in the police force.

The police high commands leadership under IGP Egbetokun is a step in the right direction towards upholding an operational excellence in law enforcement, by addressing misconduct and corruption, the police force can demonstrate its commitment to serving and protecting the public.

This move is expected to boost public confidence in the police and improve relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve.

The IGP  reaffirmation of zero-tolerance policy towards corruption, unprofessional behavior, and misconduct within the police force is long expected. Its rebirth should be executed with very strong enforcement policy.

This disciplinary measure is targeted at  Senior officers accused of professional misconduct are  face severe disciplinary measures, including investigation and possible punishment. However, this category are not the only ones but also the junior officers who discharge their duties with impunity.

To dismantle indiscipline in the police should include the rank and files to the senior officers without discrimination.

IGP’S order for  routine checks on police activities across the country to curb misconduct and corruption tendencies among officers will retain the excesses of officer who go beyond their duty rules.

While taking disciplinary action against erring officers, it’s crucial to conduct absolute investigations to avoid punishing innocent personnel. This ensures that only those who have engaged in misconduct are held accountable, while innocent officers are protected and allowed to continue serving with integrity.

It is hoped that the IGP’s decision to crack down on professional misconduct will remain and not a mere fan fares, as it is  a welcome development that will likely have a positive impact on the police force and the communities they serve.

By upholding administrative, operational, and service discipline, the police can demonstrate their commitment to excellent service delivery and restore public trust and confidence.
