NILDS Press Statement
( Vol. 128 )
17th July, 2025
PROF. ABUBAKAR O. SULAIMAN DID NOT DEFECT AND IS NOT CONSIDERING DEFECTION
The attention of the Director General National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies NILDS, Prof. Abubakar O. Sulaiman has been drawn to an unfounded and mischievous rumour being peddled in certain quarters that he has defected or is planning to defect to the new coalition party, African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Let it be known, and let it be said unequivocally that this speculation is false, baseless, and a figment of the imagination of those threatened by his firmness and national profile.
Prof. Sulaiman remains a committed progressive and very much aligned with the vision of Mr. President, Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s ( GCFR) Renewed Hope Agenda, and he is not in any way associated with the ADC or any other political platform. His focus at the moment is on delivering on his national assignment as Director General of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS). A role he continues to carry out with distinction and patriotism.
Prof. Sulaiman holds unwavering regard and respect for the leadership of His Excellency, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, CFR, the Executive Governor of Kwara State. He aligns fully with the Governor’s vision for a better Kwara and remains committed to the success of his administration and the continued dominance of the APC in the state and across the nation.
The attempt to drag Prof. Sulaiman into petty political speculation is not only malicious but also laughable. It is the handiwork of desperate political actors who have become jittery in the face of Prof. Sulaiman’s political influence within and outside the state.
We therefore urged the general public to disregard the fake news and treat it for what it is, a failed attempt to sow discord and create confusion where there is none.
Prof. Sulaiman stands firmly under the canopy of the APC and remains committed to the progressive ideals that have guided his public service and political life.
Signed –
Mohammad Abdulkadri (Anipr)
