Major Country Visa Processing Centres Sealed Up In Abuja By FCCPC – SIXT-MEDIA LANE
The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has sealed the Abuja office of Contact Tele-performance Company (TLS), a visa support agency, following allegations of consumer rights abuses and assault on security operatives by its staff, News360 Nigeria reports.
The operation, led by the FCCPC’s Director of Surveillance and Investigations, Mrs. Boladale Adeyinka, was carried out in response to a series of complaints from customers who alleged they paid for visa processing services that were never delivered.
Adeyinka explained that after complaints were lodged in March 2025, the Commission officially wrote to TLS on March 25, seeking clarification in line with standard procedures. However, the company not only ignored the request but allegedly assaulted FCCPC operatives who visited the premises on lawful duty.
The situation escalated when TLS staff also attacked police officers providing security during the enforcement operation, refusing to receive a summons issued by the Commission.
“In view of these serious infractions, the Commission had no option but to seal the premises as permitted by Section 18(1)(f) of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act,” Adeyinka stated.
She added that TLS operations are suspended indefinitely pending the outcome of further investigations, noting that the Commission had credible reasons to believe the company’s services were harmful to consumer welfare.
Top TLS officials, including the country manager and centre manager, have been summoned to appear before the Commission by 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 20, 2025, to explain their actions and defend the company. Adeyinka warned them against defying the summons, as the law provides for severe penalties, including up to three years in prison, a ₦20 million fine, or both for non-compliance.
She also called on affected customers to come forward with evidence of any service failure, assuring them that the Commission remains committed to safeguarding the rights of Nigerian consumers.
Adeyinka stressed that this operation should serve as a clear warning to other service providers in the country that FCCPC would not hesitate to take decisive action against any business that undermines consumer rights.
