I’ve meticulously examined this country for a possible urgent need, and I make bold to say, as I stand unequivocally on my honour, that Nigeria 🇳🇬 urgently needs a Department of Common Sense, most especially in a time like this – the eve of election year.
In Nigeria 🇳🇬, elections seem to expose the naiveness, ignorance, ethnic/tribal hatred, religious intolerance, illiteracy, myopic and impaired vision, in many people. It also by extension and to a large extent, exposes the foolishness and stupidity in men and women who have been either advertently or inadvertently adjudged Geniuses, Gurus and Experts in their various fields and endeavors.
Little wonder Senator Ben Murray Bruce runs the popular ‘Common Sense’, a brief on-air program. Perhaps he must have been propelled by same views I hold.
I strongly recommend that this Department admits Supporters of the APC, a political Party that has bequeathed nothing but suffering, sorrow, insecurity, terror, banditry, hardship and bloodshed to Nigerians 🇳🇬 for seven years and six months.
I make bold to say, and stand not to be corrected that Politicians like Bola Ahmed Tinubu whose real name, age, health status, and source of wealth are shrouded in ambiguity that leaves Nigerians 🇳🇬 in utter perplexity are ripe for admission into this Department.
Men like Atiku Abubakar who paradoxically goes by the alias of ‘Unifier’ but cowardly hides behind religion and deletes a Twitter submission he made, rather than stand boldly to condemn the gruesome murder of a young girl by a group of some religious Miscreants, and also his Supporters need admission into the Department of Common Sense. A man whose Boss and former President of Nigeria 🇳🇬, Olusegun Obasanjo has repeatedly referred to as corrupt, without any response of denial from him.
Let me borrow the exact words of my late Uncle, whenever an educated, and respected person acts unwisely, he would say;
I used to think that passing 6 is passing sense
Simply put, passing elementary 6 does not guarantee that one has common sense.
Common sense is not common. No wonder the Bible enjoins us to get this ‘common sense’ which it describes as ‘wisdom’ and ‘understanding’. It is not a University degree, therefore learned people are likely to be bereft of it.
“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.” – Prov. 4:7
Therefore I unapologetically infer, and adopt same as my candid submission, that Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo needs automatic admission into the Department of Common Sense, with a waiver of all necessary requirements to expedite his admission.
A Governor and Professor who has borrowed N100b in eight months and is about borrowing another whooping sum of N142b has no locus standi to bring up a matter about a former Governor and Trader who borrowed N0 in eight years but left billions of Naira in the coffers of Anambra State.
I therefore make this assertion and I remain resolute that Professor Soludo be considered a persona non grata in any assembly or gathering where Peter Obi is. His lame and unfounded views can remain with him and can even be adopted by his Supporters as ‘code of conduct’ as long as they don’t pass through the intellectual Quarters where Peter Obi dwells.
